Anyone who has seen David Pomeranz in concert cannot help but be affected by the warmth and power he generates from the stage. As critic Philip Elwood of The San Francisco Examiner remarked, “It is difficult to open up one’s creative heart and soul before an audience and to project the honesty and emotional sensitivity that Pomeranz possesses…”.

David has performed in hundreds of distinguished International venues including: The Universal Amphitheater, The Kennedy Center, The London Hippodrome, City Center (New York City), Symphony Hall (Philadelphia), The Seattle Kingdome, The Hollywood Bowl, Araneta Coliseum (Manila), Moscow Sports Arena, and Budokan Hall (Tokyo).

The Philippines Story

The Philippines is a country with a population of approximately 95 million people and, over the years, David Pomeranz and his love songs have become part of the very fabric of Filipino life. His audiences range in age from 4 years old to 80 and comprise every aspect of the population – from school girls to corporate executives to provincial farmers alike. In fact, there are very few Filipinos anywhere in the world who do not know and love David Pomeranz’ music. He is the only International artist to receive a star on the Manila Walk Of Fame and his album “Born For You – His Best And More” has sold more copies than that of any other International Pop artist in the history of that country.

But how did it all begin?

Back in 1983, David received a phone call at his Malibu home from a Filipino promoter who raved about how the songs from his past Arista and Atlantic recordings were huge hits in his country (five in all, including two he had recorded for the movie, “Zapped”) and he agreed to fly David and his band to perform in Manila for two nights at the 8,000-seat, Folk Arts Theater.

Much to David’s surprise, he was greeted at the airport by flashbulbs flashing and hundreds of screaming fans waiving signs and shouting his name. The shows went well and David published a full page ad in the Philippines Star thanking everyone for the warm welcome. After traveling back home to the States where he continued on with other aspects of his career, he began to feel that he’d been foolish to have taken such a blessed opportunity for granted and hoped that some day he’d be asked to return. Amazingly, sixteen years later, David received ANOTHER phone call – this time from a different promoter , but the content was pretty much the same.

The promoter tasked David to return to the Folk Arts Theater (this time on a bill with two other popular American Acts, Stephen Bishop and Michael Johnson) and David vowed then and there not to take this “second chance” for granted and decided to work hard to justify the faith of these warmhearted people. The February, 1999 concerts were very successful and David was approached by MCA Universal records to record an album consisting of re-recordings of his proven hits along with newly-written songs. He returned to Manila in the summertime to record the album (with some terrific Filipino musicians) and to help with promotion once the album was released.

Launched inn December of 1999, “Born For You – His Best And More” produced 6 major Radio hits including, “Got To Believe In Magic”, “King And Queen Of Hearts”, “If You Walked Away” (a duet with Filipina Mega-star, Sharon Cuneta) , “The Old Songs”, “Undying Admiration” and the title tune, “Born For You”, which topped the charts at Number One for a record 14 straight weeks and earned David the FILSCAP award for “Most Performed International Song Of The Year”. Born For You – His Best And More” has since achieved 10 times platinum status, selling over 500,000 units in the Philippines alone and making it the largest-selling International Pop album in the history of that country.

In 2000, David’s sold out the 17,000-seat Araneta Coliseum in Manila and received a “Humanitarian Award” from the Philippine National Red Cross for his fundraising efforts on behalf of their “Children Of The Streets” Program. In that same year, he produced his second Universal album, “The Eyes Of Christmas”, and starred in his own, highly-rated Holiday Television Special on the GMA-7 Network entitled, “David Pomeranz – A Christmas Star”. Later that same year, he toured Hong Kong Singapore, Bangkok and Indonesia.

In 2001, David released his third Universal album, “On This Day”, which produced several more Radio hits (including the romantic standard, “On This Day”) and he continued to tour and sell out concerts wherever he went.

Because of his numerous Television appearances and filmed Concert Specials broadcast to Filipinos worldwide via their International Cable Channels, “TFC” and “GMA”, the approximately 10 million Filipinos around the world (and 3 million in America) who had not previously had a chance to see David perform, now had the opportunity seeing him in concert throughout the United States, Europe, U.K. Australia and The Middle East in such venues as The Universal Amphitheater, San Francisco’s Cow Palace, The Cork Opera House, Toronto’s “Making Waves Festival”, Trump’s Taj Mahal (Atlantic City) and Bally’s Casino In Las Vegas.

In 2008, David became the first International Music Star to be awarded the Key To The City of Manila by its Mayor, Alfredo S. Lim for his contributions to the Filipino people around the world. Always generous of his time to aid Filipino Social Betterment Organizations including The Dangerous Drug Board, The Way To Happiness Foundation and The Philippine National Red Cross, in the early months of 2009, David became an Ambassador for “Operation Smile Philippines” – an organization of surgeons from around the world who come to, free of charge, perform operations on the poorest children to remedy Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate. David performed three sold out concerts in Manila, Cebu and Davao to benefit the organization and the “Operation Smile” concerts were broadcast nationwide and nominated for awards in Broadcast Excellence.

In February of 2013, David released a new album – “You’re The Inspiration” (MediaNation) and, just this past March, became the first non-Filipino artist to earn a star on Manila’s Eastwood “Walk Of Fame”.

Suffice to say, David Pomeranz clearly deserves the title, “Adopted Son” of the Philippines and he considers this to be among his greatest honors.
